Seasons...

This morning Ella was very sluggish. I had to practically pull her out of bed. She perked up a little and I am embarrassed to say I didn't even want to take her temperature. She didn't feel hot so I knew she was ok but I didn't even want to know what her actual temp was. Usually, I make my husband take it when I am feeling anxious, but he is out of town today. She ate her breakfast and was quiet on the way to school. I found myself tearing up after I dropped her off because I worry if this 'season' we are experiencing will ever leave us. My anxiety got worse as I got home and I just worry for my baby girl. She just seems so sickly at times. Anyways, I am having a rough morning and I decided to turn my worries over to God. I read my devotional and boy it spoke right to me. Click on this link if you are interested - Charles Stanley
I am so grateful that seasons come and go but God's love and plan for us never changes.

  1. Reading all of your posts reminds me of life in our house since October. We saw ID doc in late February and my daughter hasn't had an episode since then...until tonight! :( We have been trying to not talk about it, hoping to not jinx whatever caused this much-needed little break. One thing we'd noticed was that my daughter started taking Vitamin C tablets (because she likes them, not because we thought it would help). Anyway, we ran out of them the other day and she went about a week without them and here we are with an episode happening one week before we take her to Disney! It starting to make me wonder if the VC wasn't keeping PFAPA away? So I read that you give your daughter cherry-juice? Can you tell me more about that? What exactly you prepare and how? Thanks so much! Your story is so similar to ours...hope your little girl stays well!

    1. Hi there! Thanks for posting! First off, I am so sorry that your daughter is having another episode. I completely know how you are feeling. I hope this was a minor one!! I find it interesting that I have been hearing so much of pfapa kids going through 'remission' periods. I am glad for it but sad at the same time because who knows when it will hit again. I do believe that providing our kids with the best nutrition can help. Vitamin C, Vitamin D, tart cherry juice, and probiotics have had positive results. We began the tart cherry juice concentrate the first week of March. Since then, Ella has not had a 'bad' episode only minor ones (knock on wood :) If you look back at my early March post titled "Who Knew" I put a link to where you can find the tart cherry concentrate online, but you can also find it at your local health foods store. We mix one tablespoon with lemonade and she drinks it at lunch time every day. I also buy the dried tart cherries for snacks for her. Tart cherries are suppose to be a 'miracle food' in that it helps with inflammation and has tons of antiodints. in it. So whether it is the cause of better pfapa symptoms or not it is very good for her. I also give her a probiotic tablet (found in childrens' remedies section of your local drug store). The reason I do this is because I recently learned that your immune system is located in the gut. And probiotics help with the good bacteria in your intestines. Ella doesn't like yogurt (how you get probiotics naturally) so we supplement with the tablets. She gets one a day with her vitamin.
Anyways, I hope this helps and I sure hope the current episode is behind yal now. It is so important for us moms to communicate with one another since there is no little information about this sad syndrome. Please contact me anytime if what I wrote doesn't make sense or with just any updates with yal's experience!
      Thanks again!

  2. I am so happy to have found your blog! I am so sorry your family is dealing with this, as we have been dealing with pfapa for 2 years now. My daughter will be 3 next month. She had a lucky 5 months without a fever, but over the passed 2 months has regained her "normal" pattern. I have never heard of giving tart cherry juice, but I am definitely going to try it!!! Thank you!
